The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has accepted the promotion of Shri Eapen PV to the rank of IG for the panel year 2023, according to an order from the Department of Personnel and Training on Thursday, March 3, 2023. It is a matter of great pride for us that the Assistant Training Center in Bengaluru has been given the responsibility to organize the honour ceremony. This annual event, in memory of Shri KF Rustom, the founder and director general of the Border Security Force, used to include a memorial lecture. However, since last year, the responsibility for organizing this program has been given to various institutions of the Border Security Force, and in South India, the Assistant Training Center in Bengaluru has been entrusted with this task.
The investiture ceremony is an important and proud occasion to honour the outstanding work of the brave security forces of the country. To date, a total of 3340 personnel have been awarded the Police Medal, and the personnel of the Border Security Force has received other prestigious awards such as Padma Bhushan, Param Vishisht Seva, Mahavir Chakra, Padma Shri, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Veer Chakra, Kirti Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, Sena Medal, and Vishisht Seva Medal, among others.
The Border Security Force induction ceremony is conducted in a similar fashion to the investiture ceremony of the Army, Air Force, and Navy. The ceremony will take place at the Auxiliary Training Center in Bengaluru, where Border Security Force personnel from various states of India will be recognized for their outstanding work and exceptional skills.
